Jacqui Hicks has been a professional musician for over 35 years. She studied classical clarinet from the age of 7 and saxophone from 9. She took her saxophone studies further on the jazz course at Leeds College of Music, where she started singing and writing songs and then continued with jazz saxophone at The Guildhall School of Music & Drama. She started to concentrate on singing and spent 4 years as the vocalist with The National Youth Jazz Orchestra. Her first album - Spellbound - was released in 1999 on HiHat Records. She then started a long association with the great jazz pianist John Critchinson, appearing at festivals and clubs together, including Ronnie Scotts, and recording 2 albums - With A Song In My Heart (2005) and A Child Is Born (2010) both on 33 Records. In more commercial settings Jacqui is the featured vocalist on the Paprika Soul albums Into The Light and Soul On Jazz, scoring a top ten hit in the soul charts with Standing Right Here. She’s also recorded and toured with the pop/latin band Matt Bianco, Kajagoogoo frontman Limahl and has enjoyed over 30 years working with the British jazz/funk legends Shakatak, which still continues today. 

Song Club is Jacqui’s first album of completely original material.
